Head table or sofa: which is right for your wedding?
Choosing between a head table and a sofa isn’t only about the décor style you want. You also need to think about how your wedding will unfold, your outfits and how you want to enjoy your reception.

Planning several outfit changes?
If you plan to change outfits several times during your wedding and want to show off each look, we usually recommend a sofa rather than a head table in front of you.
A table can hide much of your outfit, especially when you are seated. A sofa shows off your outfits better and lets you make the most of your stage décor.

But then an important question comes up: where will you eat?
Why we advise against eating on the sofa
Eating on your décor sofa may seem convenient, but it comes with several risks:
- You could stain your dress, suit or traditional outfit.
- Food or drinks could soil the sofa.
- If the furniture is rented, you could be charged cleaning or replacement fees in case of damage.
To avoid these issues, we recommend planning another spot for your meal.
Three ways to eat without compromising your décor
Option 1: set up a head table beside the stage
You can plan a small, elegant table at the side of the stage rather than directly on the platform. This layout lets you eat comfortably while keeping the stage clear to show off your outfits and décor.

It also avoids overloading a stage with limited space.
Option 2: eat during an outfit change
At some weddings, especially when several outfit changes are planned, the couple eat while they are in the dressing room. This combines two things in the same moment.
While your guests are having their meal, you can change and eat quietly before heading back into the room.
We do recommend keeping your absences as short as possible. Your guests came to celebrate your wedding with you, and it’s important to spend time with them.
By timing your outfit changes with the meal service, you can enjoy a calmer moment without stretching your absence.
Option 3: eat at your guests’ table
Another option is to join a table reserved for your loved ones, your parents or your bridal party. This is especially appealing for couples who want a more relaxed, social reception.

A wedding often goes by very quickly. Between photos, outfit changes, entertainment and traditions, there is sometimes little time left to really talk with your guests.
Having your meal at their table lets you share a more personal moment, talk and enjoy their company. You’re no longer just the couple seated on a stage: you also take time to live this day among your loved ones.
Our tip: choose your stage furniture based on your wedding program. A head table can be perfect for some couples, while a sofa with a separate dining spot suits those planning several outfit changes better.
