Dance floor wrap: should you customize your wedding dance floor?
A dance floor wrap, a custom covering for the dance floor, turns an ordinary floor into a centrepiece of your décor.

But is it really necessary? And what affects its price?
1. Why choose a dance floor wrap?
A wrap covers the existing surface with a decorative finish made for your wedding.
- A white finish for a bright, elegant look.
- A marble pattern for an upscale style.
- Your initials or a custom monogram.
- A design that matches your reception colours.

Our tip: if your venue already has a beautiful dance floor, a wrap isn’t essential. It can, however, transform a worn floor or one whose colours don’t match your décor.
2. What size should you choose?
The size depends on the number of guests, the available space and how much of the floor you want to cover.
| Size | Area covered |
|---|---|
| 10 × 10 ft | 100 sq ft |
| 12 × 12 ft | 144 sq ft |
| 15 × 15 ft | 225 sq ft |
| 20 × 20 ft | 400 sq ft |
Watch out: a larger floor usually costs more, since it needs more material and setup time.
You don’t always need to cover the whole floor. Depending on its layout, a smaller area can be enough to create the effect you want.
3. Can every surface be covered?
No. Before confirming your project, the type and condition of the floor must be checked.
A clean, dry, smooth and stable surface is usually best. Deep joints, uneven areas or certain floor coverings can complicate installation and affect the result.
Our tip: send your decorator a photo of your dance floor and its dimensions. Also check that your venue allows an adhesive covering.
4. What affects the price?
- Size: the larger the area, the more material is needed.
- Design: a plain finish and a custom pattern don’t necessarily involve the same work.
- Personalization: initials, logos and special patterns.
- Floor condition: some surfaces need more preparation or aren’t suitable.
- Installation and removal: labour time, schedules and conditions set by the venue.
5. Important: check your venue’s rules
Before booking a dance floor wrap, get your reception venue’s approval. Some venues set specific conditions or installation methods. Others refuse dance floor coverings after bad experiences.
Check the restrictions on adhesives, installation and removal to avoid unpleasant surprises.
